So saddening how young girls blossom into young ladies and live to be mothers yet oblivious of their own feminine health. This ignorance could far much be rooted in the cultural constraints held as a society on candid discussions to the concerned and far much worse our trusted systems failing to address matters on sex education effectively hence rendering it a less understood topic.
More needs to be done in building capacity for young girls about their basic feminine hygiene for a healthier living. |FILE
Whilst the clock ticks and less is said and done , the unsolicited danger of health implications gnaws at the world with women suffering and some enduring without the slightest knowledge of what is eating them indirectly from amongst their habits .
Even with young girls having graduated into womanhood, it’s evident how very few women know about their basic feminine hygiene and many ladies and older women failing to countlessly pay attention to very basic things that are of great importance. Take for instance matters of hygiene that pose potential yeast infections and other potential bacteria that women are not keen to notice such as how inappropriate it is to clean the lady parts from back to the front, how sun drying is essential to the under garments ,how long should one last with sanitary towels regardless how women don’t pay focus and end up using counterfeit sanitary towels sold on the streets that could be of potential health risks.
Even worse, ladies cleaning inside their underparts with scented chemical soaps stirring cervical cancer and other infections. Even small things soar up health complications.
Its with lack of knowledge on matters of health to the public on health issues continuously in the homes such as Fibroids, UTI’s (Urinary Tract Infections) ,HYSTERECTOMY ,HEMMORROIDS, INFERTILITY,POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME,BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS INFECTIONS among others hence online predators and other digital influencers take advantage to reap money of the public for example How Yoni pearls had easily found a way into the Kenyan market but quickly faced a ban from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board as the product's safety could not be guaranteed. This highlights how women are quick to get rid of the impending health problems.
Feminine health addressing is crucial as over the years many women and mostly female university students are at the peak of endangering their own feminine health. It has been highlighted as a worldwide epidemic of the misuse of the hormonal pills for over a decade now with women eating the pill like chocolate (D Chin -Quee.2014 ) ;Harriet’s Botanicals.
Most students entangled in risky sexual relations with the urge not to get pregnant are the led in the misuse of non-emergency contraceptives and concoctions as contraception up to three times a week as they are easily accessed over the counter. With little knowledge of their own and that of their peers, engulfed with fear of consulting people and centres that contain knowledge of such , Pharmacists non-disclosure on consequent misuse but just drug facts labels used as instructions hence students become coitally dependant on the pill on frequent basis.
A sentence to one worsening their own health let alone mess around with their hormones. Hence it is common to hear of hormonal imbalance which could cultivate hormonal acnes, delayed, prolonged and painful periods, irregular cycles accompanied with nausea and migraines. Furthermore, affecting their fertility in future despite having fresh wombs and hence will have to go through synthetic oestrogen to reverse the effect. Let alone the habit has potentially increased reckless exposure to STI’s and soaring rates of unplanned pregnancies and pregnancy termination in the country.
Young girls realize later that the misuse they opt to has a sequence of implications. It is vital to spread information on the impeding hygiene concerns that have gradually led to feminine health concerns and also address these health concerns that soar pain in women’s lives.
