Meru Deputy Speaker Mwenda Ali has lost one of his children with him escaping death narrowly after his car was involved in a road accident at Riagacici area along Meru- Embu -Nairobi Highway in Embu county.The heart-wrenching incident unfolded when Ali's vehicle collided head-on with a double cabin vehicle before erupting into flames, leaving behind a scene of utter devastation.

According to sources close to the matter, the Meru County Assembly assembly legislator was enroute to Nairobi with the intention of visiting his wife, who is currently hospitalized before the horrific accident occurred. The police report by Embu West Subcounty Traffic office said the Njia ward MCA was driving in a Subaru Forester KCX 290M from Meru to Nairobi and upon reaching the area, his car collided head on with a Toyota double cabin KCZ 751R which was driving from the opposite direction.
The police said due to the impact that occured after the accident, one child aged 6 years succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Tenri Hospital Ena where she had been rushed for treatment.
Police said that the legislator who was sitting in the front passenger's seat sustained a deep cut on the forehead and dislocated left knee.He was also complaining of chest pain.His two year old daughter according to police sustained serious internal stomach injuries and both were airlifted to Karen hospital Nairobi for specialised treatment.
The driver of the ill-fated car who was driving the legislator and his family Michael Mwongera has been admitted at Tenri hospital.
Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing scene, describing the intensity of the collision and the subsequent inferno that engulfed Ali's vehicle.Joseph Kariuki said immediately after the collision the bystanders managed to evacuate the four passengers who were on board of the legislator's vehicle and rushed them to hospital for treatment.
Police have launched investigations into the accident.
