President Dr William Ruto has directed that school reopening be postponed until further notice. He made the statement on Friday during a national address.

"The Ministry of Education is directed to postpone the dates of reopening of all schools in the country for the second term until further notice" said President Ruto.
Due to the ongoing rains across the country, flooding has caused havoc necessitating need to keep safety for students, teachers and the school communities.The president said that schools will be reopened after government monitors the flooding situation.
Earlier, schools were set to reopen on April 29. They were postponed to May 6. This postponement caught learners and parents as well as guardians off guard as Education CS Ezekiel Machogu made the decision abruptly.
