Mwingi North MP, Paul Nzengu, has pledged to ensure the excavation of the Kaaya Earth Dam in Kyuso area of his tuff is carried out in honor of a fallen clergyman the Rev. Joseph Mwangangi.
Speaking during the burial ceremony of the late Mwangangi at Kaaya village on Thursday, Nzengu said before his demise the man of the cloth wished to see the dam project accomplished.

He said Mwangangi who went to evangelism after retiring as a teacher was keen to see water scarcity in his neighbourhood ended and therefore donated a portion of land for the building of the dam free of charge. "The excavation of the dam was something that was close to his heart. A few weeks a go, when I spoke to him although he was ailing, he wondered whether the project would be carried out. Now that he is no more, I pledge that CDF funds would be set aside to ensure the project is carried out in his honour," he told the mammoth crowd of mourners.
The Mwingi North MP said that his CDF office was expecting at least Sh. 50 million and once the money was received the Kaaya dam project would be given priority. The late Mwangangi was eulogized as a meek, humble and social person who not only oversaw the progress of his family members but also his neighbours and other Kenyans as well.

The moderator of the AEIPC, Dr. Joseph Mutei, who is also a lecturer at St Paul's University in Limuru presided over the funeral service. He urged the well-to-do people to live by the dictates of Biblical teaching by sharing their resources with the lowly and the have-nots.

The church leader said those endowed with resources in the society should always be ready to share with other as they would not go to the grave with their wealth.
Similarly, he asked children to take good care of their parents who sacrifice alot to educate them to enable them succeed in life. He said it was wrong for children to abandon their aging parents after all the sacrifice they make for them.
The departed Mwangangi is survived by his wife Rebecca Kyambo and five children. He succumbed to Parkinson disease.
