An early Saturday morning accident claimed the lives of two people at Kwa Toma area along Kitui-Kibwezi road. The grisly accident involved a pick-up van that was ferrying miraa. The deceased were identified as a bodaboda rider and a pedestrian who was using the road when the accident happened.

The accident occured at 7am. Speaking to MWINGI TIMES, area senior chief Kyambati King'ondu said the two died on the spot.
"I rushed to the scene and found that a miraa pick up had knocked down two people who died on the spot", he said.
The senior chief further explained that the driver of the pick up was speeding. This made him veer off the road knocking down a pedestrian on the sidewalk.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident and examined it before picking the bodies of the deceased and taking them to the mortuary.
