KNUT official tells teachers to spend money responsibly

By MWINGI TIMES CORRESPONDENT
A teacher in Mwingi in Kitui County recently became confused after being extended a loan of Sh. 400,000 in cash by a local  Sacco. Curiously, he could not find his way back home. "Loaded with Sh. 400,000 in cash, the teacher lost his way home and detoured to Thika town, many kilometers away, where he started having a good time with side-chick," a top Mwingi KNUT branch official, Morris Kenyatta, said on Saturday.

He added that it took the effort of the Mwingi KNUT branch official to trace the middle-aged teacher to Thika where he was having good time with a "Mpango wa Kando" he had shipped from Mwingi.
"When we found him in Thika, he was eating life with a big spoon with his girl. We found him in a bar but he had already blown up Sh. 120,000 out of the Sh. 400,000 he had taken as loan," said Kenyatta.

The KNUT official who was addressing the 31st AGM of the Suluhu Sacco at the St. Joseph Seminary Secondary School said the teacher was then searched and  the Sh. 280, 000 that was found on him was taken to his wife.
"My request to the Saccos is to stop giving people lumpsum cash as loans. Let them sent  the money to the loanees' accounts so that they could withdraw money bit by bit. Huge amounts are tempting," he said.

He also praised Suluhu Sacco's board for prudent management and ensuring members money was safe and was never mismanaged.
