Speaking during a Sunday service at St. Peter’s ACK Church in Siakago, Mbeere North, the leaders warned that the ongoing Gen Z-led demonstrations could plunge the country into chaos and reverse the economic gains made so far.

Led by Embu Senator Alexander Mundigi, the leaders urged the government to prosecute individuals who looted and destroyed businesses during the recent protests.

“Our economy was just beginning to recover, but these demonstrations are pulling us backward,” Mundigi said. “Let those who looted and caused mayhem face the full force of the law.”

Mundigi also accused a section of opposition leaders of being behind the unrest, claiming they were using young people to push hidden political agendas. He urged the youth not to be misled, emphasizing that true leadership empowers rather than exploits.

Retired NICA Church Bishop Njeru Nyaga echoed the Senator’s sentiments, urging the government to open avenues for meaningful engagement with the youth. However, he condemned the destruction of property witnessed in several towns, saying that criminal acts in the name of protest must not be tolerated.

“Yes, young people have valid concerns, but burning buildings and looting businesses is not the solution. The government must listen, and the youth must remain peaceful,” Bishop Nyaga said.

The leaders called for calm and dialogue as the only sustainable path to reform, warning that continued lawlessness would only breed further suffering.
