Some Ukambani leaders had travelled to Nairobi to for a consultative meeting with the country's second in command. The Machakos and Kitui MCA were led by their County Assembly Speakers Anne Kiusya and Kevin Katisya respectively.
The DP reiterated that since all Kenyans pay taxes, development should be done fairly to all areas underlining it is every Kenyan's right. He further said the renewed forays in the Opposition strongholds were not President William Ruto's schemes for a reelection.
Prof Kindiki urged Kenyan MCAs to focus on getting development projects for their people from the national government rather than concentrating on political patronage in the counties.
The cozying up of Ukambani speakers towards President Ruto's UDA happens during a time where both Speakers received show cause letters from Wiper party which is the dominant party.
Deputy President Kindiki sought Wiper party leader Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka's hand in cobbling a coalition to form the next government while claiming his dalliance with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua did not augur well for his political career. "Kalonzo is not known for ethnic politics of polarizing things" lamented Kindiki.
