WIPER, the Majority Kitui County Assembly party got an upset as it learned that the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal,PPDT, ruled against it and flour others on June 24 on leadership wrangles in the County Assembly of Kitui.
The PPDT confirmed Migwani MCA Harrison Maluki Mawia as the leader of the Majority Party. Boniface Mukwate Katula will retain Majority Whip position while Tharaka ward MCA Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara was confirmed as the Deputy Majority Whip.
The four had sued against a plot to remove them from House leadership positions they were in. They sought an injunction restraining the respondents from appointing replacements in their leadership positions.
These changes were announced by Speaker Kevin Katisya in a Wednesday afternoon plenary sitting. "I take this opportunity to congratulate Hon. Harrison Maluki, Hon Boniface Mukwate and Hon Godfrey Ndagara on their affirmation by the Political Party Dispute Tribunal as they discharge their duties in their respective leadership roles", said the Kitui County Assembly Speaker.
On March 3, Wiper Democratic Movement Secretary General Shakila Abdalla wrote to Speaker Katisya informing him on Majority Party leadership changes to replace the above team reinstated by PPDT. They were Kyuso MCA Munyoki Mwinzi earmarked for Majority leadership post. His deputy was to be Dr Erastus Musyoka Mbuno.
Further, Kitui township MCA Daniel Ngoima would have served as the Majority Whip while Cyrus Kisavi would have dislodged Tharaka MCA Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara as the Deputy Majority Whip. The letter on leadership changes was copied to Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka Governor Dr Julius Malombe and other senior county bosses.
