Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has credited his boss President Dr William Ruto for bringing major development works to Kitui County. While acknowledging uneven development of different counties since we attained independence in 1963, the Sports CS was quick to add that it was President Ruto who made the dream of equal development come true. "It is the right of Kitui people to get development from the national government. It is His Excellency President Dr William Ruto who has made it happen"

The CS was accompanied by Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe, Kitui County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto and Sports Kenya Chairman Mark Lomunokol when he added over Ithookwe Stadium to a Celebration Committee in preparing the country for Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Mvurya urged Kitui county residents to support the government of President Ruto because of his development record.
"Going forward, we want to urge all Kenyans to support His Excellency the President as he continues to provide leadership in the transformation of our country"
Mvurya made the remarks at Ithookwe Stadium near Kitui town. This year's Mashujaa Day celebrations will be held at the state-of-the-art stadium.Mvurya handed over a giant key to the director of the the administrative division at the office of the president Kodeck Makori on behalf of interior PS Raymond Omollo who is the chairman of the Mashujaa celebration committee.
Other ongoing projects are construction of Ithookwe Airstrip, roads upgrades and building of a State Lodge in Kitui town.
The CS praised Ithookwe Stadium contractors for doing excellent work within the required time frame.
"They have been very consistent. I want to thank them, he said.
