Talent is a Flame, Genius is a Fire

Talent is a flame. Genius is a fire. Genius is a talent set on fire by courage. One needs more than ambition and talent to make a success of anything. There must be love and  vocation.
“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me.” Erma Bombeck. There is no such thing as a great talent without great will power. The real issue is not talent as an independent element, but talent in relationship to will, desire, and persistence.

Talent without these things vanishes and even modest talent with those characteristics grows. “Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There’s plenty of movement but you never know if it’s going to be forward, backwards or sideways.” H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

At first I wasn’t sure that I had the talent but I did know I had a fear of failure, and that fear compelled me to fight off anything that might abet it. Self-doubt kills talent.

A short thoughtfully written script, composed by Kelvin Beat addressing importance of zealously grooming innate talents in order to thrive and bear fruits ✍️.
