Speaking after a church service at Mbuvori ACK Church, Mundigi noted that tensions have escalated in recent days, with competing political camps trading accusations. He reminded residents that politics is seasonal and should never divide communities that must continue living together.
The senator stressed that no political ambition is worth shedding blood or destroying property. He said the people of Mbeere North have always been known for their calm and unity, and they must not allow politicians to misuse them during elections.
Mundigi took a swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has been traversing the constituency to drum up support for the Opposition candidate. He accused Gachagua of making what he described as empty, rhetorical promises that have no real benefit to the people.
According to Mundigi, Gachagua’s approach to campaigning shows disregard for the genuine needs of Mbeere North residents. He claimed the former deputy president was more interested in settling political scores than addressing local challenges.
The senator also expressed disappointment with Gachagua’s habit of attacking and belittling leaders from the Mt Kenya region. He said such conduct was unbecoming and amounted to bad manners for any leader seeking to influence the community.
Mundigi insisted that leadership should be based on respect, humility, and service to the people, not insults and personal wars. He urged leaders visiting the constituency to focus on development issues rather than political theatrics.
He further encouraged Mbeere North residents to elect a leader who understands the challenges affecting them, including the Muguka industry, which plays a significant role in the area’s economy. He said the right leader should champion farmers and ensure their concerns are addressed.
The senator also called on the people of Embu County to remain aligned with the government, arguing that staying in government ensures access to development projects and resources. He warned that falling into the Opposition could slow down progress.
"Both President William Ruto and his deputy Prof Kithure Kindiki love Embu and we can not afford to be out of government. We shall remain there for development," he said.
Mundigi concluded by urging residents to maintain peace, unity, and political tolerance throughout the campaign period. He said development can only thrive in a stable environment, and it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect the peace of Mbeere North.
