"We have continued to see an increase in cases involving children, especially cases of the nature of defilement. On average, for the last four years, we have been registering 100 cases in our station here [every year] in Kitui, "said the head of Kitui Law Courts.
The chief magistrate was addressing the press during the launch of children service month. Lady Justice Lucy Gitari, on her part, said the month of November is dedicated to cases touching on children, and they will be given priority in our courts.
Judge Gitari urged members of the public to take cases involving children to court and serve as witnesses where necessary.
