Mbaika spoke in Kaiti Constituency, Makueni County, where she joined the President during his Ukambani development tour that saw the launch of the KSh1.4 billion Kyambeke-Kyuasini-Ukia road and the commissioning of the KSh1.5 billion Kyambeke-Kikoko road.

The PS said she has leveraged her position in government to push for Kaiti’s development priorities, pointing out that the two roads are a clear testament to the transformation taking place on the ground.

Additionally Mbaika noted that the upgraded road network has significantly improved market access for farmers, especially arrowroot farmers who previously struggled to move their produce.

She noted that farmers had resorted to hawking their crops along the roadsides because of poor connectivity, despite arrowroots fetching good prices in major markets like Nunguni and Machakos.

“One of the greatest achievements by the President in this area is the road network. It has completely changed our local economy. We are truly grateful,” Mbaika said.

She thanked the Head of State for giving special attention to infrastructure in Kaiti and the larger Ukambani region. “I have always engaged the President to champion projects for Kaiti. I can proudly point to several projects he has granted us and others he has helped fast track that would have otherwise stalled,” she said.

President Ruto, on his part, announced a KSh16 billion package to tarmac seven roads covering 180 kilometers across Makueni County to boost connectivity and spur economic growth.
