A middle-aged man cheated death by a whisker when police rescued him from angry mob baying for his blood after he killed another man using a knife. Police identified the murder suspect as Mutua Kasamba.
The incident happened at Kamuwongo trading centre in Kyuso Sub County, Kitui County, area police commander Mr Edwin Otieno confirmed. That was on Saturday evening.
The miraa seller, 40, stabbed the car wash operator aged 38 years old after an altercation.
"The injured man was rushed to Mwingi Level Four Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. In the meantime, members of the public set on the assailant and meted mob justice on him" said Kyuso Sub County police commander Edwin Otieno.
The Kyuso police boss Otieno said that when the suspect recovers, he will be charged in court for murder. He told reporters that he will not disclose much about the case since investigations were underway.
