A 14-year-old KCPE candidate from a poor family is overjoyed as she will report to high school courtesy of Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua's sponsorship.
Philomena Muthoni who comes from a humble household scored 393 marks in 2023 KCPE. Her single mother of six was not able to fund her education since she also had two more children in Maseno University and the University of Nairobi.

Muthoni was called to the prestigious Karima Girls' Secondary School in Central region but her hopes were dashed when she came to terms with her parent's economic status. She sat for her primary school exam at St Marks Makutano Primary School.
Speaking at Kauwi Market in Kitui West, Senator Wambua said the bright girl deserved a chance in school and he will pay her fees up to university. Her mother will cater for shopping.
"I want to announce that from today, this girl becomes my child. Onwards, I will give her full sponsorship through secondary up to university. Her mother only needs to do some shopping for her as fees is fully catered for.", said the senator amid cheers from the crowd in attendance. The senator tasked the local chief to either organize for her to report to Muthale Girls' or Kyondoni Girls' Secondary School.
45-year-old Ms Jane Mueni, the mother to Muthoni thanked the senator of Kitui County for the kind gesture. She said the support was Godsend.
