Police in Mwingi in Mwingi Central sub county are trying to unravel a mystery where a man from Kyanziani village in Kairungu location, Mwingi Central sub county, beheaded his cousin's wife and fled with her head.
Peter Muvea Musili, 36 years, is said to have attacked his cousin's wife Margaret John (49 years old) with a panga while she was going home from a nearby shopping centre and vanished with her head.
However, the man was located and killed by mob 20 kilometers from the scene of crime after he directed the mob where he had hid the head of the deceased.
Police later collected the body of the killer and the head of the deceased woman have been moved to Mwingi Level IV hospital where the other body party of the woman had been moved yesterday following the incidence.
According to the woman's husband, John Mulwa, they have previously had "some minimal misunderstanding with his cousin". However, he never thought that such unimaginable thing could happen since the killer has been away from home for some times now.
The area chief Mr Daniel Kyumbo, has confirmed that the killer and the deceased woman are cousins and sometime back he had even attempted to torch down the house of his cousin.
Kyumbo said that the incidence who very gruesome, saying that police are yet to unravel the mystery.
Kiomo-Kyethani ward MCA Anthony Musyoka has termed the incident unfortunate, urging residents to find amicable ways of settling disputes instead of resolving to bloodshed.
