Bandits shoot Ngomeni man as tens flee

A young man from Ngomeni ward in Kitui county is nursing serious bullet wounds from an attack he suffered as bandits ambushed his neighbourhood on Friday night. He was rushed to Ngomeni Health Centre in great pain. He lost much blood from the attack.

Area MCA Nzungi Ngwele called upon the government to protect Mandongoi residents.

The attack took place less  than 5km from Mandongoi GSU camp and the security agencies did not respond.

MCA Ngwele added that 60 families ran away from their homes in Kwa Makali, Kiseuni and Kanyunyi vicinities. He lamented that his electorate were subjected to dehumanizing conditions.

Pastor Jeremiah Nyayo of Mandongoi Full Gospel Church said he hosted ten families who had fled their homes following the night attacks. The families spent the night in the cold within his home compound.

Mandongoi area falls under Kyuso Sub County. Area police commander Edwin Otieno said he led a contingent of security officers in search of the attackers. "We are combing the area in search of the attacker. All we are asking is for members of the public to volunteer adequate information that would lead to the arrest of the armed criminals", he told MWINGI TIMES on phone.

Additionally, the Kyuso police chief said security personnel had repulsed the bandits.He requested residents to return to their homes.
