"As the dust settled, it was evident that these goons had one purpose in mind: to disrupt, destroy and prevent persons who they felt were hostile to the Kenya Kwanza administration from interacting with mourners in Bibironi village, Limuru constituency, Kiambu County."
In attendance during the funeral was former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and senior government officials from the Mt Kenya region.
In the ensuing melee, former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi and area MCA Christopher Ireri were abducted and later dumped near Southern bypass, many kilometers away. Musyoka described the abductors as "unidentified men" who bundled the political leaders into Subarus.
Despite denials by the police, Kalonzo said, "this was a state-sponsored attack and abductions".
Former MP Mwathi was present during the press conference while MCA Ireri is still in a Kiambu hospital recuperating.
The Wiper leader has called upon all Kenyans to resist state-sponsored terrorism.
The family of the deceased has since expressed immense loss amid grief. The Daily Nation reported that they had a debt of Sh100,000 to pay for rented chairs which are broken during the violent confrontation. The goons were reportedly ferried from other areas as far as Kiambaa, Limuru, Kikuyu and Kabete.
