A woman aged 35 years was killed by her 21-year-old cousin in Mutanda location, Mumoni ward, Mwingi North constituency. The assailant then committed suicide by stabbing himself with a knife on his stomach.
Mumoni Sub County police commander Paul Saitoti said the murdered woman was stabbed several times on the chest. The area police boss further added that it was not evident what triggered the altercation at around 430pm.
"The person who reported the attack arrived too late to find the two in the throes of death.They were collected and rushed to Mwingi Level Four hospital about 50km away but were pronounced dead on arrival", he said.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Mwingi Level Four hospital mortuary for preservation as police investigations continue.
