Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka said the unchecked encroachment of armed herders from North Eastern Region should be contained by the State before the situation gets out of control.
The UDA National Organizing Secretary lamented that the armed camel herders had embarked on killing locals and their continued havoc will entrench divisions among neighboring communities.
Speaking during the same function in Kitui West to raise funds for government empowerment programme aimed at Bodaboda operators, Kitui South MP Rachael Kaki Nyamai said 20 houses were torched by alleged camel herders this week alone.
"We say that we will not allow our people to continue being butchered. We want the government to intervene and carry out an operation to flush out criminals like it happened in 2016 when peace was restored", she said.

The camel herders occupy South Kitui Game Reserve. Police officers in the region are believed to be compromised. As a result, Kitui South MP Rachael Kaki Nyamai is demanding their immediate transfers since they are receiving bribes from armed camel herders.
During the Bodaboda operators fundraiser, more than 2 million shillings was raised. President Dr William Ruto sent Sh.1.5million.
