Vote hunting has kicked off in Kitui county as various candidates eye the governor's seat. The tussle has locked former governor Charity Ngilu and incumbent senator Enoch Wambua in a fierce exchange of accusations with each branding themselves as best suited to succeed governor Dr Julius Malombe.
Speaking in Kanziko during a burial ceremony, senator Wambua cautioned voters to shun reelecting ex-governor Ngilu due to what he termed as poor management of taxpayers' money.
"Whatever happens, I urge you Kanziko residents, when you start casting votes, do not vote for a person to be governor whose biggest success is a bedbug fumigation project.
If Kitui county people make mistake to reelect Charity Ngilu, before she finishes her second term, the county will be finished. She will sell the county."
On her part, former Kitui county governor Charity Ngilu called upon residents to examine leaders looking for votes to be the county boss. She urged them to shun those bragging to have ability to lead yet they have been in power and done nothing for the electorate.
"Some have never done anything yet they have been in power for long. Some say they are ripe. Others are just swearing and bragging".
