President William Ruto has dedicated this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. He also posthumously conferred upon the late PM the highest civilian honour of the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, C.G.H.

The national celebrations were held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui town. President Bassirou Faye of Senegal was the Chief Guest. Mozambique Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levy, Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe, among other dignitaries were also present.

President Ruto also announced that there will be verification of beneficiaries of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) in every constituency across the country.
"We are looking for 100,000 young people to give them KSh 50,000 business support grants to empower their enterprises", said the President. These funds will be available to beneficiaries from November 4, 2025.
The Head of State further said the government will connect 16,500 households to electricity in Kitui county. This will cost the government KSh 2.2Billion.
