We shared the pain with Raila, says Kalonzo

As Kenya mourns the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, his long time friend and colleague Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has issued befitting condolences to the family of Raila Odinga. "We learned a lot from each other, and, shared a lot of pain together", recalled the Wiper Patriotic Front party leader in a press release.

In honour of the late Odinga, Musyoka who had just arrived in the United Kingdom for a ten day trip indicated "I am therefore rearranging my schedule of engagements in the United Kingdom in honour of my fallen brother".

The former Vice President recounted that Raila's name is imprinted in Kenya's second liberation which birthed a new constitution in 2010 ushering in devolved units, expanded freedoms and better governance for all Kenyans. 

Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe, in his condolence message, said the late Premier Raila Odinga has been a true nationalist whose love for Kenya meant that social justice and the rule of law prevailed.
"His demise is a great loss to the Kenyan Nation where his legacy has been etched through the struggle for human rights and democratic governance", said Governor Malombe.

Further, the Kitui county boss acknowledged Raila's role in promoting Devolution in the country. "On behalf of my family and the people of Kitui, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and relatives".

On her part, former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu said she was shocked by Odinga's demise and prayed for consolation of his family. She remembered the fallen hero as brave and steadfast. "He devoted all his life to fight for justice for us all. He put country first even when his elections were stolen. May God keep is soul in eternal peace".

Dr Makali Mulu, Kitui Central MP, urged Kenyan political leaders to keep Odinga's legacy alive for future generations to benefit from what he fought for. "He fought for democracy, unity and peace. We will remembered his legacy as leaders".
