Kalua who is the Green Thinking Action Party Leader said that we should mourn with compassion not confrontation. This was in reference to scenes of violence witnessed during the viewing of the  former premier's body in Nairobi.

"Today as thousands of Kenyans gathered at the Kasarani Stadium to pay final respects, unfortunate scenes of confrontation and chaos were witnessed. We urge all Kenyans to honor Raila Odinga's legacy of peaceful resistance and dialogue", said Dr Kalua in a press statement sent to newsrooms.

The former PM will be laid to rest on Sunday at his Bondo home in Siaya County. It will be a State burial highlighting his enduring contribution to Kenya's democratization.

On Wednesday, President Dr William Ruto issued a proclamation for the country to fly flags half mast as he announced a weeklong mourning of the departed Agwambo.
