When Mr Mwendwa Mutua left his Kwa Kilui home in Kitui Rural constituency, Kitui county,  he crossed borders looking for work. A family in Meru county offered him a job. With the construction work nearing completion, the family says he needs reunion back home.

The family he is with is from South Imenti constituency,  Meru County. It is 14km from Meru town.

In the last two weeks, we have tried looking for Mwendwa's people in vain. This is because Mwendwa does not have a national identity card or a mobile phone number. He is also not fluent in Kiswahili and English. He speaks his native Kamba language.

Host family spokesperson Ms Lucy Kawira tells MWINGI TIMES that the man appears to have mental health issues but is very hardworking.

He does not like speaking about his family back home. She fears that he may fall into abuse in town."My brother is completing a house here where the man has been working.  I wonder where he will go after that", says Lucy.

On his part, Mwendwa is perfectly at home away from home. "I am comfortable here in Meru.  I will return home when I get (enough) money".
