Kenya Kwanza administration's health insurance has gotten people talking of late. Many citizens are not okay with its coverage. Few have explored what works for the Social Health Authority insurance.
Our team visited select health facilities in Mwingi region, Kitui county. While we got warm welcome, we met regular problems like influx of patients in health facilities amidst shortage of healthcare professionals.
This article is a guide on how to utilise Sha insurance to lower your medical bills. For starters, register for Sha. You cannot benefit when you are outside the programme. Go to a cyber café for assistance or do that with your mobile phone if you're tech savvy.
Secondly, store your details for easy access. When you arrive at the hospital, you will be required to present your registration details like phone number and Sha number.
A code will be activated to your phone number and the attendant will ask you for verification. Present that for your card to be stamped. This gives you an opportunity to go to the consultation desk to wait. If there is no one at the queue, enter the ward to be served.
Since the Healthcare official understands you're confirmed as registered, you will get waived or free drugs. This is for outpatients, MWINGI TIMES was told.
Being underesourced Healthcare facilities, you will still need to pay for some of your prescriptions in different (private) hospitals or chemists.
Lastly, pay your Sha premium for best services not just for you but others.
