Kitui County Ministry of Transport and Roads is planning to repair over 320 kilometers of road network which were destroyed by the El Nino rains.
Several roads including the road connecting Mutwangombe market to Endui location and two others connecting Enziu to Yumbu areas of Mui were cut off by raging floods.
The ministry is as well planning to to divert excess water which has threatened to sweep Mutwangombe market in Mwingi Central constituency.
Speaking at Mutwangombe area in Waita Ward in Mwingi Central constituency, Kitui minister in charge of Roads and Transport in Reuben Itiko said that the county would also repair several drifts in various rivers which were swept by floods.
Waita Ward MCA Joseph Kasungi lauded Kitui governor Julius Malombe for responding to the plight of Kitui residents and specifically locals in his constituency where several roads were completely cut off by floods.

Justus Musyimi who is the market chair of Mutwangombe market urged the county government to move with speed and address the situation at Mutwangombe market, as the market risks being swept away by water in future rains if mitigation measures are not taken.
According to Musyimi, business people have been unable to operate their businesses during market days in rain season due to heavy waters which flood the market.
Kiluti Peter, a business lady at Mutwangombe Market lauded the county government for at last taking the necessary measures to address the situation threatening the market.
