A 107-year old polygamous peasant farmer in Mwingi North Constituency, Kitui County is hopeful that President William Ruto and his administration will hear his distress call over his ancestral land allegedly grabbed by individuals and sold to government institutions without his consent 33 years ago.
Itavwa Muli Maangi, a resident of Kavuti sub location, Ngomeni ward in Kyuso Sub County, asked the President to intervene and revert back 77 hectares of land which was hived from his land and allocated to Ngomeni Secondary School, Office of the President Ngomeni, Ngomeni police station and other 23 influential individuals including a senior administration police officer.
Itavwa said he has fought in and outside court battles for many years to salvage his land in vain. “I am crying and pleading with you Mr President to compensate for my land which has been utilised by your government departments”, the old man sadly said.
