Former cabinet secretary Peninah Malonza has sent her messages of condolences to families of children who perished on Friday morning along Kitui-Kibwezi road while going to school.The former minister requested her former cabinet colleagues to put in place road safety measures along the killer road. The road safety measures include bumps and signage especially in the areas near schools.

"I would ask the schools to have some sections to help the learners on their safety while working along the raids", said former CS Malonza. Other leaders who sent their condolences are former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu. They all called upon drivers to avoid speeding to avoid causing road accidents.
A police report seen by MWINGI TIMES earlier today indicated that six children died when they were knocked down by a Toyota Probox car. Among the six were five girls and a boy. The boy was a grade three pupil. All learners were from Kyoani secondary school and Kyoani primary school.
The oldest girl to die in the early morning crash was a Form Three student. Two Form One girls were among the victims of the sad incident too.
Other deceased girls were in primary school taking their classes in Grade Six and Grade Three respectively.
Kyoani assistant chief Patrick Mutisya was one of the first responders of the accident. He reiterated the need for government to erect speed bumps near the schools.
