Below average rainfall forecast for Southeastern region

A new multi agency report titled "Hydrological Outlook -October-November-December 2024" shows that Kenyans should be prepared for warmer than average temperatures during the forecast period running from October to December this year. "Higher probabilities for warmer than average temperatures are expected over central and eastern sectors of the country", the report says.

As concerns rainfall forecast, counties within the southeastern lowlands and northeastern Kenya are expected to receive below average rainfall. This is according to the Kenya Meteorological Department. However, isolated areas in southeastern lowlands "are to receive near to below average rainfall".

Residents in the above mentioned regions are busy preparing their farms in readiness for the October-December rains.
