Police are investigating the cause of fire that killed twin children aged two years in Ngoo area of Lundi sub location, Mwingi East. Lundi assistant chief Mr Benard Musili confirmed the incident.
Speaking to the press, the local administrator said that the deceased were left by their mother sleeping as she went to the shop to buy milk. It is when she was away that the fire broke out. When the mother returned, she found the bedroom of her two year old twin children was engulfed in fire.
Good Samaritans helped the mother put out the fire but the children died in the process of rescuing them. Property of unknown value was also destroyed.
The cause of the accident is yet to be known. Police transported the bodies of the deceased to Mwingi Level IV Hospital morgue as investigations continue.
