The party’s Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni on Sunday said they were convinced that Kalonzo would run and win the elections against President William Ruto "with ease".

Kioni said Jubilee which is a constituent member of the Azimio La Umoja Kenya coalition had resolved to back the former Vice President with one accord and they were not looking elsewhere for their flag bearer.

“As Jubilee party, we are not sourcing for our presidential candidate in the next general polls because we have one in Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. Our request is for Kenyans to rally behind the candidate to redeem this country from the jaws of the oppressive leadership,” Kioni said.

Speaking at Africa Inland Church Kasina in Mwingi Township, Mwingi Central in Kitui County in the presence of Kalonzo, the party secretary general said Kenyans and especially voters in Mt Kenya region were disillusioned and would not make a further mistake by electing “an uncaring and insensitive president” as they were hoodwinked in 2022 elections.

He said memories of the 2007 disputed presidential results in 2007 were still afresh among voters in Mt Kenya and other parts when Kalonzo saved the country from imminent political crisis as Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga ganged up against the late President Mwai Kibaki’s win.

Kioni said again when Ruto and Raila have ganged up against the besieged Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, is the Wiper leader who is ready and determined to salvage Mt Kenya from political segregation and bias.

“Let this go into record that Mt Kenya region is watching the unfolding political exclusion by the Kenya Kwanza to render the region a political novice in the countdown to 2027 elections and beyond. We tell Ruto and his henchmen we are keenly watching pensively,” Kioni said.

Former Kiambu Governor Ferninard Waititu echoed Kioni’s assertion that political deliverance for Mt Kenya region and its suburbs will come from the Wiper leader and in extension the Lower Eastern counties.

On his acceptance remark, Kalonzo thanked Jubilee party for the support, divulging that he will be in the political formation that former President Uhuru Kenyatta will support in the lead-up to 2027 elections.

Kalonzo said he would engage everybody and communities as a free gear to win the presidency adding that the Kamba community would not flip-flop, maintaining that Ukambani will be where the Mt Kenya vote will be.

The former Vice President hoped and believed that Kenyans of all divides will accept and give him a chance to use his peace credentials and corruption-free reputation to mobilise the voting population in the 47 counties.

“ThebPresident Ruto-led government is the greatest infamy wrought on Kenyans today. We need to rise up and reject the tyranny of leadership,” Kalonzo said.

Kitui senator Enoch Wambua said his party leader will be a presidential candidate in 2027 and that Wiper will go into pre-election alliances with other parties to form a government with Kalonzo as the head of the alliances.

County Woman Representative Irene Kasalu and Mwingi Central MP Gedion Mulyungi described the Wiper leader as an undisputable candidate to take the stab at the presidency to send Ruto into political oblivion.

The MPs said Azimio afflicted parties will coalesce to front Kalonzo as the sole presidential candidate to become the sixth president.

Mwingi Central MP Charles Nguna attended the function but left before speeches began. Also present was his staunch arch-rival, Munyoki Mwangangi alias Bookshop who narrowly lost to Nguna for the parliamentary seat in the 2022 elections.
