According to the Public Health chief officer  under the ministry of health and sanitation in County Government of Kitui, Madam Lynn Kitwan this number of people living with HIV virus in the county has reduced from prevalence of 3.2% to 2.6% which marks a hard work of this ministry which have put in place measures to curb the spread of this disease.

On top of this, Madam Kitwan urged the residents of Kitui county to try and end stigmatising people living with HIV virus, which is the common and most challenging effect of the fight against this epidemic. She said that people living with HIV/AIDS should not be discriminated as they too have a role to play in nation building.

Kitwan also appealed to men and boys as they are key theme of this year's World AIDS celebrations to help the country promote the agenda of ending this virus them being the forgotten gender which rarely gets attention on medication. Also, she asked the young generation to abstain from sex and also the people in relationship to stay faithful to their partners, for this is a way of preventing being affected by HIV virus.

"Everyone has a key role in preventing the spread of HIV virus by sharing the information that HIV/AIDS is still there and still incurable and people should take precautions to prevent getting affected." Kitwan urged the Kitui residents. HIV can be prevented by applying an ABC formula, which is Abstainance, Being   Faithful to one partner or use of Condom." Kitwan added.
