Heroic welcome for Bernard Kavuli after release from abduction

University student Bernard Kavuli was welcomed with song and dance at his rural home. He is a 24-year-old student at Mount Kenya University where he is pursuing his Journalism studies in his fourth year.

Upon arrival, he was chauffered in a sleek car after which he was carried shoulder high into the Kalamba Muyo NAC church where special thanksgiving prayers were held for his release. The congregants thanked God for reunion after Kavuli's abduction ordeal.

Kavuli was abducted on December 22 and held incommunicado for weeks in an unknown location. He was discovered on January 6 in Kitale town, Trans Nzoia county which is more than 300 kilometers from Ngong' where he was abducted.
Earlier, residents received Kavuli at Kamuw'ongo town which is 12km away from his home and escorted him through the dusty all-weather road to Kalamba Muyo.

He was abducted by four  armed men at a petrol station in Ngong town, Kajiado county on December 22, 2024.

Kavuli's abduction was reported to be connected to his criticism of government on his X platforms on matters related to 2007 Post-Election Violence, PEV.
