IKANGA MCA charged with Sh2.2M fraud

Ikanga ward representative Cyrus Musyoka has been charged in court for an offense of seeking to defraud his employer Sh2.2Million.

Appearing before Kitui Principal Magistrate Sindani Nambafu, the MCA denied all the seven counts he faced.

His lawyer Nzomo Mutinda said he was was not a flight risk, praying that the court releases him either on bond or bail as he waits for hearing and conclusion of his case.

Further, MCA Cyrus Musyoka was wanted before the Mandaraka law court for another alleged criminal offence.

At the Kitui Principal Magistrate's court, he was accused of making a false claim as a public service employee.

The court heard that on January 12, 2023, MCA Cyrus Musyoka made a false claim of Sh2,212,000 at the County Assembly of Kitui.

Another charge the Kitui county legislator is facing is with an intention to deceif, he forged a motor vehicle registration certificate for a motor vehicle number KCM 760Z. The NTSA issued certificate's registration number was recorded as N5630283M. 

The Ikanga ward MCA also faced another count of uttering false documents and fraudulently uttering the above motor vehicle registration certificate.

Additionally, the ward representative is facing a charge of conspiracy to commit a felony.

He was released on a bond of Sh500,000 with a surety of similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000.
