There will be a chance of light rains in Kitui county but most places will be sunny and dry. In its latest weather forecast, the Kenya Meteorological Department says that the county will experience a maximum temperature range of between 27°C and 36°C. The minimum temperature during the same duration is forecast to oscillate between 15°C and 24°C.
These temperature ranges are expected to continue up to March 2025. "However, some areas in the county may experience a few rainy days in January and February".
As always, strong winds blowing at a speed higher than 12.5 knots/6.5m/s is expected over most parts of the county. "Strong North easterly to Easterly winds...are expected over most parts of the County".
The Kitui County Director of Meteorological Services Daniel Mbithi has stressed the importance of being aware of adverse effects of climate change. He said the climate change world is both unfamiliar and chaotic. Being resilient during this changing climate change will help community members adapt to the new environmental we find ourselves in.
Of note is that the short rains season ended. Most places experienced below-average rains leading to poor harvests.
