The principal told a local newspaper that the withdrawal of results had thrown candidates into panic adding that she was shocked about the unfortunate development. "The letter from KNEC did not have much details, only saying the findings of their investigation will be communicated to us later" Ms Ndambuki told the media house.
The school is owned by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's family. Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation sponsors bright and needy students to achieve their academic dreams.
In the recent years, it produced excellent results both regionally and nationally. In 2023, Esther Mwikali was the most improved student in Kenya having joined Mama Malia Academy with only 199 marks and later graduating with B Plain grade in KCSE.
The school was the most improved in Eastern region for two consecutive years; 2021 and 2022.
While releasing KCSE examination results for the year 2024, Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba said that 840 students will not receive their results because they were cancelled. The reason he gave was exam irregularities.
Further, some 2,829 candidates who include all the 92 Mama Malia Academy candidates had their results withheld over suspicion of taking part in irregularities. They will wait for at most 30 days to know their fate after KNEC investigations are concluded.
