As we lay your body to rest today in Kathiani, Machakos county, let me write about the Dorcas Mbai Nyila I knew.
Having joined the media at around the same time with you, I was able to witness your meteoritic rise from a young reporter to an alluring voice for news reading at County FM.
In June 2022, you asked me to help you in traversing Kitui county documenting Senator David Musila's gubernatorial election campaigns. We gladly did this together. Thank you for the opportunity.
You ensured that we never lacked across our publicity journeys. Basically, you were "madam fix it". You sorted problems upfront.
A year later, you called me asking that I take up a job on offer. Being engaged somewhere else, I declined. You accepted my secondment to take up the slot on my behalf rather than it getting lost.
We covered many stories that affected and changed the lives of our fellow residents for the better. Sadly, today is the last day of this sojourn. May your legacy of concern and candour live on.
